Components and functions
The DD500E system consists of the following components:
- DD500E - The physical device that is connected between the two networks that should exchange information.
- Configuration Application - An application that connects and uploads configuration settings directly to the DD500E.
- Configuration file - A file containing all relevant device settings.
Protocol support
The following protocol is supported by the DD500E:
- UDP - Protocol for sending UDP traffic from the Upstream network to the Downstream network.
Information flow
To ensure that information can only flow in one direction, the DD500E is physically divided into two separate sides, an Upstream (source) side and a Downstream (destination) side. The two sides are linked by an optical one-way barrier. On the device, the Upstream network port is labelled IN and the Downstream network port is labelled OUT.
When the DD500E is installed, the Upstream side must be connected to the Upstream (source) network and the Downstream side to the Downstream (destination) network.
