Device overview
The DD500E is a Data diode designed for DIN Rail mounting. It is physically divided into two separate sections, Upstream IN and Downstream OUT, that are linked by an optical one-way barrier.
Front panel
The following functions are available on the front panel of the DD500E device:
- Multi-function button - switches from normal operation to one of the following functions, depending on usage:
- Reset - pressing the button quickly (less than 2 seconds) will restart the device.
- Configuration mode - pressing the button longer (~2 seconds or more) will make the device receptive for configuration updates. Note that while the DD500E is in Configuration mode, no network traffic can be sent over the device.
- IN port - RJ45 port, 100BASE-TX IEEE 802.3af, PoE, used for network communication.
- OUT port - RJ45 port, 100BASE-TX IEEE 802.3af, PoE, used for network communication.
- Upstream Configuration port - Proprietary interface (configuration USB-serial cables included), used when configuring the device.
- Downstream Configuration port - Proprietary interface (configuration USBserial cables included), used when configuring the device.
Status indicators
On the front panel, a set of status indicators are available:

Top panel
The following functions are available on the top panel of the DD500E device:
- Upstream Power socket - Port for external power supply.
- Downstream Power socket - Port for external power supply.
Tamper seal
The DD500E is provided with a tamper seal that should not be removed or broken. The tamper seal is located on the right side panel of the device.
It is recommended that the tamper seal is examined on a regular basis.
In case the tamper seal is broken, the integrity of the DD500E can no longer be trusted and it is recommended that the device is disconnected immediately.
Product identification
On the rear of the DD500E, a product label can be found. The label provides information such as:
- Model number
- Serial number
- Ethernet port MAC addresses
Symbols
On the product label, the following symbols can be found:
